{"id":662,"date":"2020-04-09T20:37:29","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T19:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.clydebankcentralchurch.org\/?page_id=662"},"modified":"2020-04-10T03:32:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T02:32:57","slug":"holy-week-and-easter-2020","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.clydebankcentralchurch.org\/?page_id=662","title":{"rendered":"Easter Sermon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>Easter Sermon<\/u><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-red-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BIBLE READING: (Luke Ch: 24 verses 13-24)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Text: (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Luke Ch: 24 v 15<\/span> <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">\u201c<u>Jesus Himself drew near<\/u>, <u>and went with them<\/u>\u201d<\/span>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Friends; the Coronavirus is around the world, many people have lost their lives through death, family are sad and heart-broken of their sudden loss.&nbsp; Many people are also self-isolating (Stay at home); so that we can over-come this deadly virus. &nbsp;&nbsp;It will take months for all us to get back to a normal life again.&nbsp; In these days of uncertainly, you and I can find help and comfort in God\u2019s Word.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Let us consider this wonderful resurrection story in; (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Luke Ch: 24 verses 13-24)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This above text in; (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Luke Ch: 24 v 15<\/span> \u201c<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><u>Jesus Himself drew near<\/u>, <u>and went with them<\/u><\/span>\u201d); this is a great verse to hold unto in these dark difficult days in which we are living in.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the Gospel of <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Luke Chapter 24<\/span>; we read of some people who had trouble hearts. Something had disturbed their inward Peace; a death of a love-one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong><u>PERLEXED HEARTS<\/u> (<\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 4<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>); <u>the woman at (Jesus\u2019 tomb)<\/u>.<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong><u>SAD (DISCOURAGED) HEARTS<\/u> (<\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 17, v 35<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>); <u>the two on the Emmaus Road<\/u>.<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong><u>TROUBLED HEARTS<\/u> (<\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 38<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>) (<\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">verses 36-46<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>); <u>the Ten Disciples in the upper Room<\/u>.<\/strong><\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong><u>JOYFUL HEARTS<\/u> (<\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 52<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>) ;( <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">verses 46-53<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>). <u>The Eleven Disciples in the upper Room<\/u>.&nbsp; From Sadness to Gladness.<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You may be here today at this service and you are feeling down-hearted, discouraged and there are many things that are going against you.&nbsp; You are not alone; these two on the Emmaus Road, (disciples or husband and wife) were feeling the same way discouraged down-hearted and sad. You may even be afraid of the future.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Let us this morning take encouragement and learn, four things from this story in (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Luke Ch:24<\/span>) and see if they may be a help to you and me today: &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">1)<u> THE PROBLEMS THAT TROUBLED THEIR MINDS<\/u>:<\/span> (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 17<\/span>) <u>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/u>Their Problems were one of disappointment, distress and death of a love-one; which brought them sorrow (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 17<\/span>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><u><span style=\"color:#6d1d1c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">They communed and reason together<\/span> <\/u>(<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 15<\/span>)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong><span style=\"color:#562f30\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><u>They were sad and discouraged<\/u> <\/span>(<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 17<\/span>).<\/strong><\/li><li><strong><span style=\"color:#5e1818\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><u>They were trying to solve the Problem themselves<\/u>&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;&nbsp; (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">verses 18-21<\/span>).<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(When we are faced with the Problems of life; sometimes we forget about the Lord. -Yet we know; <u>He was their all the time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">** <u>Illustration!<\/u><\/span>&nbsp; <span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\"><u>Jesus and the Storm in;<\/u> <u>(<\/u><\/span><u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Mark Ch: 4 vs 35-41<\/span><\/u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">)<\/span>. &nbsp;The Lord Jesus is asleep in the boat (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 38<\/span>), there was \u201c<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><u>a great storm arose<\/u>\u201d v 37<\/span>).&nbsp; Jesus stills the storm, (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 39 \u201c<u>there was a great calm<\/u><\/span>\u201d).&nbsp; (<span style=\"color:#a49d6a\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Let the Lord Jesus today still \u201cthe <u>great storm\u201d in your heart today<\/u>.&nbsp; <u>Hand over to Him your Problems and concerns<\/u><\/span>).&nbsp; <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">(1<sup>st<\/sup> Peter Ch:5v 7 \u201c<u>Casting all your cares upon Him<\/u>; <u>for He cares for you<\/u>\u201d).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2) <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><u>THE PRESENCE THAT TOUCHED THEIR LIVES:<\/u> <\/span><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">(v 15 Jesus himself drew near, and went with them)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Lord Jesus came and touched their lives and they did not know it (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 15<\/span>).&nbsp; He was unrecognised by the two (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v16<\/span>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"color:#503235\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><u>He (Jesus) is with us when faced with trials and difficulties in life<\/u>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ** (<u>See Illustration on the <span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Life of Joseph<\/span><\/u> (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Genesis Ch:39 v 3 \u201cand <u>God was with him<\/u> (Joseph\u201d).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>*** Notice what Jesus did as he walked and talk with His people.&nbsp; <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">\u201cHe <u>opened their eyes<\/u>\u201d (v 31); \u201cHe <u>opened the<\/u> <u>scriptures to them\u201d<\/u> (v 32)<\/span>. (<u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">It is only God\u2019s word that can us in our times of discouragement and when many things are going against us<\/span><\/u>). \u201c<u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">He opened their understanding to all of them in the Upper Room<\/span>\u201d<\/u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">; (v 45\u201d that they might the understand the scriptures\u201d)<\/span>.&nbsp; (<span style=\"color:#c0bd68\" class=\"has-inline-color\">One day; when you and I meet the Lord Jesus; He will explain the reason why; (you and I) had to go through the valleys of difficulties of life<\/span>).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(<u>Read here Hymn<\/u>; \u201c<u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Not now but in the Coming Years<\/span><\/u>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(<span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Not now, but in the coming years,<br>It may be when with Christ we stand,<br>We\u2019ll read the meaning of our tears,<br>And there, sometime, we\u2019ll understand<\/span><span class=\"has-inline-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">)<\/span><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3) <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">THE PURPOSE THAT TRANSFORMED THEIR FUTURE<\/span><\/u>: (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 33 \u201cand they rose up the same hour and returned to Jerusalem\u2026 and told the disciples \u201c<u>the Lord is risen indeed<\/u>\u201d<\/span>).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These two believers (husband and wife) had seen the risen Lord.&nbsp; Christ the Messiah had come to die on the cross and to rise again the third day.&nbsp; Because Jesus is alive, they return quickly to Jerusalem\u2026 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">and told the disciples<\/span> <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">\u201c<u>the Lord is risen indeed<\/u>\u201d<\/span>.&nbsp; The Lord Jesus then He appears to His disciples and commissions them to go and <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">proclaim<\/span> <\/u>this good-news to the world.&nbsp; <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">(Mark Ch: 16 v 15 \u201cGo ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature\u201d).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(May we take these words to heart and <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">go and tell the good-news of the Gospel,<\/span> <\/u>this is our Christian duty to the Lord. We are serving a rising exalted Lord.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What transformed their Future? Was knowing the Jesus was alive forever more, therefore, we can have-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(a) <u><span style=\"color:#772c34\" class=\"has-inline-color\">His Presence<\/span><\/u> (He is with us), we can claim (b) <u><span style=\"color:#772c34\" class=\"has-inline-color\">His Peace<\/span><\/u>, and have (c) <u><span style=\"color:#772c34\" class=\"has-inline-color\">His Power<\/span><\/u>, for He is in us (by His Spirit), and we will trust Him to lead and guide us day by day.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>May we also stand firmly on <u><span style=\"color:#772c34\" class=\"has-inline-color\">His Promises<\/span><\/u>&#8211; (\u201c<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">I will never leave you, nor forsake you\u201d Hebrews Ch:13 v 5<\/span>); and (Isaiah Ch:41v 10 \u201d Fear you not; for I am with you\u2026\u201d).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4) <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">THE PEACE THAT TAUGHT THEM ALL IS WELL<\/span><\/u>: (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 36<\/span>). &nbsp;These two on the Emmaus Road, where in the Upper Room with the disciples, when Jesus appears unto them; (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Luke Ch:24 v 36 and John Ch:20 verses 19-29<\/span>).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The reason why He appeared unto his own <u>was you give to them the assurance that He did rise again from the death<\/u>.&nbsp; He had fore-told them, that He would die on the cross and rise again on the third day.&nbsp; Jesus always keeps his word.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Lord Jesus brought to all of them: &#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>** (1) <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">HIS PRESENCE<\/span><\/u> (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 15 Jesus himself drew near, and went with them\u201d<\/span>).&nbsp; **(<u><span style=\"color:#772c34\" class=\"has-inline-color\">God was with Moses and Joshua<\/span><\/u> <u>and He will be with us<\/u>).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>** (2) <u><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">HIS PEACE<\/span><\/u> (<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">v 11\u201cPeace be unto you; my Peace I give unto you\u201d). (Hebrews Ch:13 v 20\u201cnow the God of peace<\/span>\u201d). &nbsp;&nbsp;(Men and Women throughout the whole world can now have \u201c<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Peace with God\u201d Romans Ch:5 v 1<\/span>).&nbsp; As the Lord Jesus speaks to them, He showed to them his nail-print hands; this was to prove to them; it was really Him. \u201c<span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">I have risen from the dead<\/span>\u201d.
